There are an abundance of non-skiing activities to do, including bowling, heated outdoor pools, beautiful spas, paragliding, climbing, ice skating, tobogganing, curling and much more.
St. Anton enjoys excellent snow reliability thanks to its altitude and position in the Arlberg region. The ski season typically runs from late November through April, with consistent snowfall and extensive snowmaking ensuring top conditions. Powder days are frequent, particularly in January and February, when storms from the north deliver deep snow.
St. Anton forms part of the vast Arlberg ski area, offering over 300 kilometres of pistes and more than 200 kilometres of marked off-piste itineraries. The terrain is famously challenging, with legendary runs such as Valluga attracting advanced skiers from around the world. Intermediates can enjoy wide red runs, while beginners have access to dedicated learning areas. Modern lifts connect seamlessly to Lech, Zürs, and beyond, making it one of the most exciting ski domains in the Alps.
St. Anton is best known for advanced skiing, but it also offers beginner zones and family-friendly slopes near Nasserein. Families who enjoy the lively atmosphere of a large international resort will find excellent ski schools and a wide choice of accommodation. For those seeking quieter, gentler terrain, neighbouring Lech or Zürs may be a better fit, while still staying within the same Arlberg network.
St. Anton has one of the most famous après-ski scenes in the Alps. The fun starts on the slopes in bars like MooserWirt and Krazy Kanguruh, where live music and dancing begin in the afternoon. Back in the village, the atmosphere continues with a wide range of bars, restaurants, and clubs. For those who prefer a quieter evening, there are also fine-dining options and spa retreats offering a more relaxed end to the day.
St. Anton is one of the most accessible ski resorts in Austria, with direct train connections from Zurich, Innsbruck, and Munich. Zurich Airport is around 2 hours 30 minutes away by car, while Innsbruck is just over an hour. Many travellers choose private transfers for convenience, though the train station in the centre of the village makes rail travel particularly easy.

Little ones generally thrive here – there’s a superb children’s ski school and youth centre in Nasserein, plenty of non-skiing activities and lots of family-friendly hotels, chalets and restaurants.
St Anton also claims an impressive 4km lighted sled run from Gampen to Nasserein to the Rodelstall. The child-friendly course takes about 15 minutes to complete and will leave any child begging for yet another run!
For something less adrenaline-fuelled, the horse-drawn carriage ride in the snowy Verwall Valley is a fun family option to enjoy the winter magic, find peace of mind and explore the surrounding countryside.
Do not let history and reputation of St Anton’s skiing put families off, there are superb ski schools at hand, and far too many non-skiing activities to do, including bowling, heated outdoor pools, beautiful spas, paragliding, climbing, ice skating, tobogganing, curling and much more (see the activity tab above).
