Surrounded by the wonders of the Indian Ocean, One&Only Reethi Rah makes its home on one of the largest islands in North Malé Atoll. A jewel among a string of coral atolls, lagoons and white sands, it is about 700km (430mi) southwest of Sri Lanka.

At One&Only Reethi Rah, we are aware that certain resort operations may impede on the environment and community if not managed properly. The resort team strives towards minimising our environmental footprint by implementing sustainable initiatives and action plans to reduce the use of energy and water as well as effectively managing waste.

Designed in an authentic style, built using eco-friendly materials, and blended seamlessly into the remarkable landscape of a natural environment, our overwater villas create a sophisticated and intimate ambiance where guests are able to feel truly at home.

All our buildings are constructed using sustainably-sourced plantation teak, palm wood, bamboo, and palm fronds (much of which was harvested during the island rehabilitation process) in addition to recycled telegraph poles. All rooms provide organic toiletries in refillable earthenware containers, to minimise plastics use and wastage. The island’s dedicated desalination plant provides bottled still and sparkling water for all guests.

Using reusable glass water bottles, bamboo-based personal consumables, and bamboo and stainless steel straws are part of the commitment to offering guests a plastic-free stay. The still and sparkling drinking water available on the island comes from the resort’s dedicated plant, with purifying patented water filters.

OMO Maalifushi is the only resort to open in the Maldives’ Thaa Atoll, nestled in the archipelago’s southern reaches. Opened in November 2016, Milaidhoo is a boutique luxury resort in the Baa Atoll UNESCO biosphere reserve, close to Hanifaru Bay, 126km northwest of Male. We’re perfect for nature lovers as our own coral reef, which encircles the island, is a protected area and noted as an outstanding snorkeling and diving site in its own right. Our tiny beautiful island, abundant with tropical greenery, measures just 300m by 180m and is fringed by soft deep white sand beaches.

With the hotel’s location in the UNESCO world biosphere reserve, conservation of the precious environment is one of our guiding philosophies. They are participants in the Green Globe certification process which sets strict standards, not just in our environmental actions, but also in ethical business behavior, fair trade, and compliance with international best practices and standards.
