Acropolis & the Acropolis Museum
When you stand at the foot of the Acropolis of Athens and gaze at the architectural splendour of the Parthenon, the spirit of Ancient Greece unfolds before your eyes, emitting a vibrancy for over 2,500 years. As the undisputed center of the city for millennia, these great historical monuments atop the hill can be seen from every corner of Athens and takes a skilled guide to reveal the secrets within. Your visit takes place early in the morning before the crowds descend, and using augmented reality on an iPad, travel back in time as you discover the monuments in their original glory and the intricate engineering behind them.

Rare truffle hunting in Motsovo
In this corner of Greece, those who know Katerina Nola call her the female “Indiana Jones,” whose incredibly trained dogs track down precious truffles with vim and vigour. Alongside their skillful senses, you’ll make the most of the stunning countryside views while watching the dogs come and go, hopefully with truffles in their snouts! There is much to be learned, and the strolling continues until they have collected enough truffles for a scrumptious cookout lunch at a wooden riverside shelter.

Olive Oil Tasting and Lunch at a Local Village
Not far from Costa Navarino, you can enjoy an exceptional culinary experience at a traditional Greek village in the Peloponnese. Hidden past stone slab streets, idyllic Greek houses and olive, chestnut and walnut trees resides an olive oil connoisseur ready to share his well-kept secrets as he guides you through the steps of olive oil tasting. By the end of the day, you’ll savour the aromas of fresh olives and appreciate the smooth, bitter taste and spicy sensation of a premium olive oil. To top it off, you’ll make and bake your own bread in a wood-fired oven to complement the traditional lunch.

Follow the siren song of your heart and take to the seas! We know Greece well, and are eager to show you how to travel in pure luxury as you make your way across the isles this Autumn. Don’t hesitate any longer and you’ll be grateful you made the leap…

Staying local in the UK

With rolling hills, beaches that make you think you’re in the Med, and an abundance of gorgeous walks and lakes, you’ll be hard-pressed to not find something to do or see. The Newt

Somerset, England

The Newt’s core is Georgian, with limestone buildings the colour of burnt honey, the seat of the Hobhouse family for more than two centuries. Hadspen and the Farmyard nestle quietly amongst orchards, lakes and woodland that reflect the love lavished upon them over the past 300 years.

The main house was built in the 17th century, then remodelled in Georgian times. Capturing the essence of a Georgian family home, its restrained, classical beauty is offset by playful design; while the original working Stable Yard has been transformed into sophisticated accommodation, retaining characteristics harking back to its equestrian past.

The Farmyard is just beyond the cyder orchards, half a mile from Hadspen as the crow flies, this former dairy farm is a place to spread out and lean back, cheek-to-rosy-cheek with grazing livestock and sheltering oaks. Original farm buildings, with a delightfully golden patina, are home to rooms, a pool, bar, snug and all-day kitchen. Complimentary drinks are available at the Garner Bar, while bikes and buggies provide ample opportunity for pootling over to the gardens and spa at Hadspen.

Coworth Park

Hampshire, England

Coworth Park is located next to Windsor Great Park, near Ascot. It sits in 240 acres of meadow, which, in summer, offer up a hazy carpet of yellow, lavender and pink wild flowers. The house was built in 1776 and its many incarnations throughout history have included an all-girls school and the home of Lords and Ladies.

Today its look is modern-day country house – the 17th-century mansion and polo estate has been treated to an intelligent and eco-friendly modern makeover that’s given it three restaurants (including one with a Michelin star), a spectacular spa and an air of quietly confident grandeur.

The spa sits in timber and glass building, topped with a ‘living roof’ of thyme and lavender and set into the side of a hill. Facilities include a blue-lit pool with underwater music, steam rooms, mood showers and a gym. There are eight light-filled treatment rooms.

Experiences

Engage with a Suling Maestro

Far apart from the tried and true tourist track, spend time with one of Bali’s most famous local musicians Gus Teja and enjoy a private concert at his home. Hear about his musical background and how he crafted these instruments by his own hand from whittled wood; Suling is an end-blown bamboo flute that he combines with traditional and modern instruments to produce a unique signature blend. An incredibly authentic and soulful experience for musicians and music-lovers!

Sunrise Trek to Mount Batur

For adventure seekers, trek to the summit of Bali’s second highest volcano, where you’ll be rewarded with sublime sunrise views across the island and past Lombok’s crater and lake. This challenging 2-hour trek commences well before dawn and is an exciting traverse that takes you through forests, lava slopes and over rocky terrain until you reach the misty clouds up above. From walking in the dark to hiking around the rim of the caldera and enjoying breakfast at daybreak, these are the travel moments worth living for.

A Day in the Life of a Balinese Artist

This is a chance to meet and engage with local master artists in their homes and workshops scattered around Ubud, known as the cultural heart of Bali. Since the 1930s, this region has been a magnet and haven for renowned artists Walter Spies, Miguel Covarrubias, and later Antonio Blanco and Arie Smit. This remarkable opportunity allows you to discover Bali through its people and the unique art forms the island is known for the world over. By learning more about their craft and the significance of their art, it’s likely that you’ll return home with a piece to call your own.

Treat yourself to a destination offering a mesmerizing rhythm of life that must be experienced firsthand. Bali is the gift that keeps on giving, and we will ensure that every day spent here is maximized to its full potential.

There are plenty of opportunities to maximize your holiday days in 2022. Below we have laid out when to take your hard-earnt days off to maximize your time away from the office.

April

Booking eight days in April could allow those who work Monday to Friday to get 16 days off work.

Good Friday falls on April 15, with Easter Monday on April 18, so booking four days off either side leads to a 16-day break.

This means you get Saturday 9 April to Sunday 24 April off for eight days annual leave.

WHERE TO GO IN APRIL: Caribbean (Sun) // Alps (Snow)

May

TIP: Book off: May 3 to May 6 to get April 30 to May 8 off

Booking four days off after May 2 – the May Day bank holiday – gives nine days off for the price of four.

WHERE TO GO IN MAY: Europe (City Break) // Botswana (Safari)

June

TIP: Book off: May 30 to June 1 to get off May 28 to June 5

This year is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee which means the nation will get an extra bank holiday.

To make that work, the May Bank Holiday weekend will be moved to Thursday, June 2, while Friday, June 3, will be turned into a bank holiday.

With June’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, if you book off May 30 to June 1, you get nine days off for just three of annual leave.

WHERE TO GO IN JUNE: San Sebastian (Couples) // Balaeric Islands (Family/Friends)

August

TIP: Book off: August 30 to September 2 to get August 27 to September 4 off

WHERE TO GO IN SEPTEMBER: South Africa (Garden Route) // Greece (Couples / Young Families)

December

Book off: December 28 to December 30 to get December 24 to January 2 off
