Amangiri, Utah, USA
The super-luxury and soul-soothing silence at Amangiri at Canyon Point, Utah is something special. People who know about the 900 acres of vastness go there to be – and to feel – remote, and with the eerie beauty of the Utah/Arizona terrain for miles and miles all around, this wilderness feels nothing short of humbling. Its crisp edges of polished rock are redolent of Native American architecture. The fantastic centrepiece pool curves around a rock formation, and the Aman Spa has all you need to empty your mind – the same for being able to view the desert from most beds or baths. The modernist suites offer an inspiring welcome to this most dramatically secluded setting.

Son Bunyola, Mallorca
Richard Branson’s latest dreamscape, Son Bunyola, is worth the splurge. Three spacious, traditional Balearic villas (one has five bedrooms, the others four) lie sprawled across 680 acres on Mallorca’s northwest coast. Each has its own heated pool, sleek kitchen, and courtyard with dining area, although Son Balagueret – housing a bedroom in the original 13th-century turret – has its own magic. The lush estate includes vineyards, olive groves, and citrus orchards; you can walk to the beach, hike and bike on miles of mountain trails, or play some of the island’s almost two dozen golf courses.
Virtuoso travelers receive:

NIHI Sumba, Indonesia
There are fewer than 30 uniquely designed villas here but every single one has a captivating Indian Ocean view, and this beautiful place is further lit up by the smiling welcome you’ll receive from the Sumbanese people who look after it on behalf of the owners. Something you can do here that takes you right away from everyday stresses and strains is swimming with Sumba’s horses, and after that exhilaration then it’s time to explore the Nihioka, a truly blissful spa. We can also recommend stand-up paddling through slow-moving local rivers as they wind past sultry Sumba villages and hidden local waterfalls. It’s as surreally relaxing as it sounds. Indeed, the resident team can devise an itinerary for you with all sorts of serene experiences, from bird-watching to immersion in the ancient heritage of the Marapu people along what was once a remote and secret beach.

Annandale, New Zealand
On Banks Peninsula, clinging to the edge of New Zealand’s South Island, are the four distinctive villas created by the Annandale farm; it almost defines getting away from it all. Despite the stunning coastline and breathtaking views of the glittering Pacific Ocean, you’re on a working 4000-acre farm where the large grazing herds of Angus cattle and Romney sheep dot the landscape of rocky outcrops and wind-blown tussock grass. We absolutely love the old fashioned veranda of the restored 19th century Homestead, which can sleep up to 12, and has its own heated pool and even a private tennis court. There’s also masses to enjoy outside, including mountain-biking, kayaking, hiking, cooking classes and nature cruises.
andBeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, Namibia
This is the only private reserve in the Sossusvlei area featuring the dunes of Namibia on the world’s oldest living desert, so when you’re in the lodge you’re at the centre of 31,000 acres of pristine nothingness. The utter tranquility and extraordinary quality of light makes this area magical by day while at night the sky is so clear – it’s near an internationally recognised Dark Sky Reserve – that the stargazing through a powerful Celestron telescope in the Observatory will keep you up til dawn. The accommodation is all about sustainable luxury: 10 beautifully appointed stone-and-glass suites offer shaded verandas, private plunge pools, and large retractable skylights above the beds. Other signature features include a sunrise-view gym and sunset-facing wellness centre.
Titilaka, Peru
At an altitude of 3800 metres above sea level, the air on the shores of Lake Titicaca where Titilaka Lodge is tucked away is crisp and wholesome. It will leave you thoroughly refreshed while exploring this dramatic and enormous stretch of water. There’s island-hopping on the lake itself, excursions from the boathouse on the peninsula, unforgettable birdwatching, and Sillustani – the large and important pre-Hispanic funeral ground and archaeological complex where Peru and Bolivia come together in the Andes. The rooms, each with a splendid lake view, are contemporary and sumptuous. Almost all the lovely staff are locals, and the fare is delicious, seasonal and satisfying. You’ll have amazing days and sleep like a log…

We are a proud member of The Conscious Travel Foundation which is a global community, uniting members of the travel industry to reshape the impact of tourism on the world. We believe in the power of education and collaboration to fuel a shift in industry practice, igniting change and safeguarding the planet for future generations.
Whilst it can be seen the devastating effects of the climate change on our world, we are hopeful that going forward travel can still provide a positive impact on communities around the planet.
There are many inspiring stories from properties looking to make the changes necessary in order to preserve what we have. The resilience of communities ad habitats across the world is a sign that we can do better, and we must all learn how we can do things ourselves in order to best protect our future generations.
Below are some of the inspiring stories from some properties from across the world.
The Lodge at Blue Sky
United States
The team at Blue Sky believes in being genuine stewards of the earth, taking every opportunity to be kind to the planet. Explore the ways in which we craft the Blue Sky experience to promote a positive impact on the environment.

Blue Sky uses no plastic water bottles and offers guests an insulated, reusable bottle during their stay, which they can take home with them. Blue Sky uses biodegradable plant-based straws. Picnic utensils are made of bamboo.
In-room Bath Products

At bluegr Hotels and Resorts we are committed to making sustainable holidays the way to experience exclusive hospitality, executive services, creative gastronomy, beautiful surroundings, regional culture and customs.
Our environmental philosophy is based on the adoption of a new eco-culture and the enhancement of the environmental awareness that extends throughout bluegr Hotels & Resorts.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY PHILOSOPHY AND COMMITMENTS
Sustainable Luxury
We strive for sustainable development and that is mirrored in our commitment to making sustainable holidays the way to experience exclusive hospitality. Without sacrificing luxury and quality, we work hard towards minimising our impact on the planet. We believe that the highest standards of luxury hospitality can and should be delivered in responsible ways that benefit our guests, staff, and communities. Our goal is to adopt and consolidate a new environmental culture that will permeate every hotel of the bluegr Hotels & Resorts Group.
From the very beginning sustainability and community have been at the very heart of the Teardrop story. We love this island home of ours and passionately believe in making a positive impact wherever possible. Our core beliefs sit behind everything we do and we constantly look for new ways to have a positive social and environmental impact.
Restoration and transformation
This is a great passion of ours; Saving and restoring beautiful, often abandoned, old buildings and reimagining and transforming them into inspiring fusions of old and new.
Each of our properties is totally unique and many have been saved from ruin. Heritage buildings and vintage tea bungalows were carefully chosen for their character and have been lovingly restored. Wherever possible, we preserve their original features and let their architecture inspire our contemporary interiors.
Tiger Mountain, since its start has been at the forefront of responsible tourism. This covers all our stakeholders: our guests, employees, local communities, and government. We strive to minimise our impacts be they environmental, social, or corporate and to support our local communities’ own development initiatives. This is through our Community Support Partnership Programme that supports Community Forest User Groups, local schools, health posts, local national and international charities, environmental research and monitoring, advocacy, and media.
As we have evolved through the thought processes of eco-tourism and wider sustainable tourism, we now seek to develop concepts appropriate to the middle hills of Nepal for truly Regenerative Tourism – a leap beyond somewhat passive sustainability to reverse damaging trends to regenerate the environment and communities so that all can thrive – in so doing we provide a deeper level of transformational journey for our guests through a rich sense of place and an immersive experience of life in the middle hills of Nepal. Through authentic experiences, engagement with the local community, integrating with the forest and mountain landscape, understanding the rhythms of life, we create a fuller engagement than just the change from work to holiday. This, in turn, must co-evolve with a more holistic approach to local communities and their aspirations for development. Tiger Mountain aims to be the bridge between the guests’ transformation and the community’s aspirations.

Our Vision: To preserve and protect parts of the Indian wilderness as well as our diverse cultural heritage for future generations.
A Family dedicated to Conservation
Our family has a legacy of working with wildlife through filming, monitoring, researching and creating awareness about tigers in Ranthambhore for generations. In 1974, when Tejbir and Malvika followed a narrow, winding road it led them to the base of the ancient fort of Ranthambhore. In 1988, they co-established The Ranthambhore Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), working closely with the development of villages around the park boundaries. As a child, Jaisal learnt the lay of the land by walking through every inch of the park; forbidden under today’s regulations. He was taught animal tracking and bush craft skills as a toddler under the tutelage of his father Tejbir, the late Fateh Singh Rathore and his uncle Valmik Thapar – regarded as India’s leading wildlife experts and conservationists.
One of our post-covid promises includes the promise to provide an experience that is “not once in a lifetime, but for your lifetime”
BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
In so much marketing, you see around the promotion of a safari or safari camp you are likely to read the words ‘a trip of a lifetime!’. This is, honestly, because most safari experiences are very expensive and most people who visit Kenya can only afford to come on a trip that happens once in their lives. But this doesn’t need to be the case – many travelers or families go to the same place time and time again, especially if it was a place they felt a real affinity for.
Sustainability is a real ‘buzzword’, but what does really mean? Can travel, which can be incredibly bad for the environment if done without thought, really help sustain a landscape for the future? At The Safari Series, we think so. In fact, it is built into the core of what we do.
Nature sits at the very core of The Datai Langkawi’s DNA – it is an integral part of who we are and what makes us unique. The wonderful natural setting and the environmental features – the sea, mangroves and ancient virgin rainforest – provide the very foundations for our offering of nature-related experiences combined with holistic and well-being programmes.
Just as nature has gifted us our environment and its fascinating inhabitants, we have a responsibility to conserve and strengthen nature’s increasingly fragile resources and to reduce the negative impact of our footprint on the environment. This responsibility – which has evolved into The Datai Pledge – has culminated into a robust programme of initiatives with the single-minded objective of creating a sustainable environment for the future. The Datai Pledge programme not only benefits the living creatures who share this spectacular island with us but also enriches the lives of our guests, team members and the local community through meaningful participation.
The Datai Pledge programme comprises a series of initiatives relating to our business operations, the land, sea, and youth. These four elements correspond to the four pillars of our programme: Pure for the Future; Wildlife for the Future; Fish for the Future; and Youth for the Future, respectively.
Bocachica is an under-served village on an undeveloped island. The roads are not paved and there is still no running water. Access to education is limited, unemployment is high, and those lucky enough to find work must often support entire families on the Colombian minimum wage of less than $10 a day.
But like all people, all over, Bocachiqueros are proud, charming, hard working and ambitious for themselves, their families and their community.
As one of the only sources of formal employment in the area, Blue Apple’s goal as a business is to offer guests the best experience possible, while also creating opportunities for our neighbours and being a respectful and contributive member of the community.
We employ local people where we can, from Bocachica and from other villages on Tierra Bomba and the islands around Cartagena.
Most of the tours and activities we offer are owned and run by local people. We are also proud to support the Green Apple Foundation, which provides jobs through recycling.
Sol y Luna authentically reflects the rich Andean culture and allows us to share the beauty of the Sacred Valley with our guests while generating the income to support the Sol y Luna Intercultural School.
My name is Marie Hélene Miribel, but everybody calls me simply Petit. Following my heart, I left a successful corporate life for the Sacred Valley of the Incas, to live my dream of improving the future for some of the world’s poorest children. In my husband Franz, I met the perfect match. I have tons of ideas for how to educate these children, and Franz possesses the gifts to build and realize these audacious dreams.
In 1999, we started an education project for the local children, many of whom walked for hours each day to get to a school in poor condition or did not go at all. Working within the existing social fabric proved invaluable to understanding the realities of schools and families around the Sacred Valley. To support our education initiatives in the most economically sustainable way given Sacred Valley’s potential for tourism, in 2000 we decided to build a hotel.
Australia’s landscapes are some of the oldest on Earth and having been isolated for 45 million years, we are one of the most biologically unique and diverse countries on Earth, with more than 80% of flora and fauna species endemic to our environments.
Two hundred years of European settlement has emphasised the fragility of our unique country with land clearance, the introduction of feral animals and invasive weeds substantially impacting on the country’s biodiversity. Twenty two Australian mammal species have become extinct in the last 200 years (the highest rate of any country) and 20% of our remaining mammal species are also threatened with extinction. Climate change will only exacerbate this conservation challenge.
The Wild Bush Luxury portfolio offers guests a chance to see some of Australia’s most incredible and pristine environments, almost completely untouched by human settlement – the Top End and Flinders Ranges.
